Minimal disassembly (if any) and some basic tools may be needed.
Part Description: The circulation pump pulls water from the water tank to over the top of the evaporator plate, in order to form the ice that drops onto the cutting grid.
Failure Symptoms: Ice machine is making noise, leaking water, runs but makes very little ice or no ice at all.
Testing: Check the pump for any damage that would cause it to leak water. If the pump is cracked, it should be replaced. If the noise is coming from the recirculation pump, check to make sure the water resevoir is full. If the resevoir is low or empty you should check your water line for restrictions in the water flow. If the resevoir is full, check the evaporator plate. If the evaporator plate is dry, the recirculation pump should be replaced. If the evaporator plate has water, but is making thin ice run a cleaning cycle to clean any deposits from the water distributer. If that doesn't fix the thin ice issue, your recirculation pump is weak and should be replaced.
Bonus Tip: Another common cause for water flow restriction is a clogged water filter. Water filters should be replaced a couple times each year.
