Repair Skill Level: 2 | Beginner to Moderate
Minimal disassembly (if any) and some basic tools may be needed.

Part Description: The water inlet valve controls the flow of water from the water supply line to the ice maker and water dispenser.

Failure Symptoms: Water dispenser and ice maker not working; Small ice cubes due to insufficient water supply; Water leaking.

Testing: Disconnect power to the unit and remove the water valve. Use a multimeter to check for continuity. The result should be between 200 and 500 ohms, unless otherwise marked on the side of valve. If your testing doesn't fall withing the suggested continuity range, it should be replaced.

Bonus Tip: Test to see if water pressure is the problem first. Water pressure to the water valve should be at least 20 psi. To visually test your water pressure, first shut off the home's water supply valve. Next detach the water supply line from the valve and hold the line over a bucket. Once over the bucket, turn the home water supply valve back on and watch the flow of water into the bucket. A weak flow of water indicates possible problems with the water line or the home water supply valve. A strong flow of water indicates a possible problem with the inlet valve.
