The door strike is used in conjunction with the door locking mechanism on front loading machines to hold the door closed while the unit is running.
Failure Symptoms: When the door strike is damaged or broken the door may not close properly. And if the damage to the strike prevents it from plugging into the locking mechanism properly the unit may not be able to start.
How to Test: Check the door to see if the strike is damaged and preventing the door to close properly.
Repair Tip: If you are having problems with the unit being able to start, but the door strike appears to be okay, try using a multimeter to check the door locking switch for continuity. If there is no continuity, you should replace the switch.
