W10518394 W10134009 Dishwasher Heating Element For Maytag / Whirlpool

Repair Skill Level: 3 Screwdrivers

Part Description: The heating element heats the water to a temp high enough to remove bacteria from dishes. It is also used to dry dishes faster during a heated dry cycle.

Failure Symptoms: Dishwasher runs for several hours. If the heating element doesn't heat the water to the appropriate temperature, the dishwasher won't move on to the next cycle causing the dishwasher to run for several hours. Another symptom of a bad element is if the dishes don't dry properly during a heated dry cycle.

How to Test: Use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the heating element assembly does not have continuity, replace it.

Repair Tip: Whenever replacing the heating element you should also consider replacing the high limit thermostat. If it has blown, your element could overheat and melt the floor of the tub.

Our heating element in our dishwasher broke and we were able to verify that this was the right part by emailing thrifty appliances. They got back to us right away and we ordered the part immediately. It arrived quicker than expected with minimal packaging (which we love!) and my husband was able to install it using a youtube video. Thanks for saving us money and time! Very efficient.

I comparison shopped for price to replace this heating element . Less than 1/2 of the name brand and it works just fine.
I really liked the feature that you could check your model number to see if part was compatible. I received an email to verify this within a couple hours.

  • Great service and the part worked.. But..

I have an Amana dishwasher The heater fitted perfectly but the nuts that hold the heater through the bottom of the dishwasher are different to the those required for the new heater (shown). You can get around this by buying 2 steel 7/16ths National Fine (NF) nuts plus flat washers from the autoparts store. Your local hardware is unlikely to carry NF threads. You will need an 11/16ths deep socket to tighten the nuts from below.. Do not over tighten, would be easy to break the new heater element! Thrifty even emailed me on a Sunday to confirm the compatibility of the new heater.. Can't beat service like that!

I used this item to replace a worn out heating element in our Whirlpool - Quiet Partner I dishwasher. It was the exact size and everything fit perfectly. It shipped and delivered quicker than I was expecting. I was very impressed.
