Repair Skill Level: 2 | Beginner to Moderate
Minimal disassembly (if any) and some basic tools may be needed.

Part Description: The evaporator fan motor draws air through the evaporator coils, which cools the air before circulating it throughout the fresh food and freezer sections. Be aware that some refrigerator models have (2) evaporator fan motors, one on the fresh food section and one in the freezer section.

Failure Symptoms: Refrigerator fresh food and/or freezer sections not cooling properly; Motor is noisy while running or doesn't run at all.

Testing: Unplug the unit and check the fan for obstructions caught in the blade path. Try turning the fan motor blade by hand. If it does not spin freely, replace the evaporator fan motor. If there are no obstructions and the blade spins freely, disconnect the fan motor and use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If there's no continuity, replace the motor.

Bonus Tip: Ensure that your refrigerator is maintaining the correct temperature by placing a fridge thermometer inside the unit. Generally, fresh food section should be set between 37 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and the freezer section should be set at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
