Part Description: The thermostat monitors the temp inside the refrigerator, and switches the compressor on and off to adjust temp accordingly.
Failure Symptoms: Refrigerator or freezer running too cold or not cold enough.
Testing: Rotate the thermostat from the lowest setting to the highest setting and listen for a click. If the thermostat clicks, it is not likely defective. If the thermostat does not click, use a multimeter to test for continuity. If the thermostat does not have continuity at any setting, it should be replaced.
Bonus Tip: Ensure that your refrigerator is maintaining the correct temperature by placing a fridge thermometer inside the unit. Generally, fresh food section should be set between 37 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and the freezer section should be set at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit.

Timely and Good Parts
I had hauled a refrigerator to a repair shop. After a week they called and said to come get it and that it was working fine. I brought it home and put it back in the garage a nd plugged it in and it did work. Later I found out the hard way that it stopped working again. I went to close the door and a gave the upper control panel a small tap and heard the compressor kick in. It did this every time I went to check on it for a while. I removed the thermostat and took it to the repair place to purchase a new one. The did not have one but could order it and my price---$85! WOW! I found Thrifty and got my Thermostat and installed it in just a couple days for less than $20. Thanks Thrifty
