Different Design but FITS!
The in-laws' circa 1976 Kenmore dryer stopped heating. The element was burned out because the link collector had a half-inch coating. The original element is a different design - it looks like a small toaster, boxy with flat stainless ribbons. Several merchant sites indicated this model as the replacement, and Thrifty had the best price by far so I gave it a try. This replacement unit is longer and extends further into the metal duct but other dimensions are fine. One small mounting screw hole aligns with one hole in the duct and holds it quite securely. It was a simple quick inexpensive fix, and now they clean the lint collector weekly.
