The lid latch and strike is used on top load machines to lock the lid in place while the unit is running.

Failure Symptoms: When the lid latch and/or fails the unit may not be able to fill, wash, drain, or spin.

How to Test: Check for damage on the strike. Use a multi-meter to test the latch for electrical continuity. If there is damage or no continuity, they should be replaced.

*Continuity is the presence of a complete path for current flow. A continuity test is a quick check to see if a circuit is open or closed. Only a closed, complete circuit (one that is switched ON) has continuity.

*Continuity testing should be attempted only when voltage is NOT present in the circuit being tested. Always unplug the device or turn off the main circuit breaker before attempting a continuity test. Ensure that all capacitors are safely discharged.

I'm so happy I purchased this product! My washer would enter the spin cycle, chirp and click a few times, and then wouldn't spin the clothes. I read on an online forum that replacing the lid lock latch would possibly worked. I ordered this part. It was boxed well, so it wouldn't get crushed. I followed the instructions in the video; it took about 20 minutes. Now my spin cycle works again!!! I had never attempted a washer repair before this one, and I completed it without any problems.
